There are various factors that need to be considered when choosing a location for your Spray Advisory System. This article is written to help you choose the right location
To get the most accurate reporting out of your Spray Advisory System, there are several factors to consider. These are:
Ability to Correctly Install the Inversion Pole
The inversion pole will be 8 meters tall when installed and the guy wires will cover a diameter of 7 meters. Therefore, it’s important that adequate room is provided around the installation site to cover off both these requirements.
Wireless Network Connectivity
As the sensors are connecting via LoRaWAN or a Private LoRa network, it’s good practise to ensure the sensors are installed in a position to receive good network signal for reliable reporting. So, avoid low lying areas or dips and areas where there is dense vegetation between the device and the gateway.
Distance from Spraying Activities
Inversion events are quite localised, so it’s important the poles are installed in a location that is central to spraying activities. Where there are multiple properties you need will need to select a single farm to monitor, unless you have purchased multiple solutions.
Land Profile
Inversions generally are more frequent at lower lying areas, and less frequent at the top of hills or rises. As such, it’s important that the inversion pole and weather station is installed in a position between the two extremes (high and low land profiles) to ensure data reported is a fair representation of potential inversion conditions.
Artificial Influences
Avoid areas that artificially impact wind and temperature such as sheds or other man-made structures.
Viewing Your Data On the Incyt Platform
After the installation is complete a member of our team will schedule a session with you to walk through the Incyt platform. During this session they will show you how to interpret the data as well as setup notifications and alerts.
